GOLF 101

Address: The process of getting the club and body correct before swinging.

Aim: We aim the club. Process to put the club correct at the Address.

Alignment: We align the body. Process to put the body correct at address.

Angle of Approach: Degree or angle the club swings into ball at Impact.

Arc: A curved line.

Closed Face: 1.Address-Club face looks to the left of target. 2.Impact-Club face looks left relative to PATH of swing (right handed)

Fat shot: Hitting too much ground.

Hook: Ball that curves left for right-handed golfer.

Hosel: Part of club head closest to shaft (shank of club).

Impact: The exact moment the club contacts the ball.

Inside: Area to the side of the Target Line you Address to hit ball.

Lie: Where ball sits on ground.

Lie of Club: Angle or degree of shaft relative to club head when bottom is flat on ground.

Loft of Club: Degree measurement of clubface relative to vertical line.

Open Face: 1.Address-Club face looks to the right of target. 2.Impact-Club face looks right relative to PATH of swing (right handed)

Outside: Area on the other side of Inside relative to the Target Line as you Address to hit ball.

Path: Direction club swings the moment before and after Impact

Plane: A flat surface by definition. Plane of swing refers to degree or angle of the flat surface.

Pull: Straight shot to the left of target (right handed).

Push: Straight shot to the right of target (right handed).

Shallow: Club swinging into ball in an upward degree at impact.

Slice: Ball that curves the right (right handed).

Steep: Club swinging into ball in a downward degree at impact.

Square: Measurement of either 1.The club at the address /impact. 2.The body alignment at address.

Target Line: Line from ball to target.

Toe of Club: Part of club head farthest from shaft.

Top Shot: Hitting top half of ball.
